My first personal post

First part– the smallest (the event itself)
Between days 25 and 27 of this month happened the first international conference about Q methodology in Teresina. Place more inappropriate could not exist. But occurred, that bring a great satisfaction for all who participated and live here. The presence of a large number of PhD’s has made the Piaui for a few days if become the academic capital of Brazil, in relations to studies of subjectivity. And that text about subjectivity, the first part ends here.

Part two – the largest (The event’s subjectivity)
For better analysis of subjectivity I will divide my analysis on 4 factors:
Organizers; Producer; Audience; Speakers.

The organizing committee was composed of the members of the academic center of Social Communication (CACOS), more some student volunteers, the teacher Muna Kalil and teachers Gustavo Said and Michael Strincklin.
Formed the team were made to division of the tasks. But the warning was given: the students and academic center would be responsible for the heavy work! (I think it is not necessary a highlight). Knowing the conditions of work all agreed ahead of expectation to work with a group of foreign teachers, earn certificate of international conference and personal reasons.
Then the committee was sought sponsorship. They got a large number of typical drink (include cachaça) to be delivered for speakers. Cashew’s nut and doce de buriti. They made inscriptions, lists, memos, carrying tables, exhibitors, selecting photos, translating, testing record equipment and other things.
The producers are also participants of the committee: the teachers Strincklin and Said – the SS – who had the idea of the conference and also the delivery of a title “honoris causa” for the great scholar of the area: Albert Talbott.
All the work done with a short deadlines for delivery was carried out successfully, with the exception of translations of the slides, working done hurry and with some unforgivable mistakes. But that is another matter.
One of the stuffs that was established by the organizing committee was that there wouldn’t be simultaneous translation. Without adequate budget for this. So and the audience? Even warned the audience appeared, but if they understood any thing … after each presentation was open time for questions. The silence has been made king at those times.

The speakers took it in a good and seemed very excited with the event. It is worth emphasizing the quaint beauty of Uruguayan Virginia Gravina. I really fall in love for this women. With strong speech and gestures insurance, wrote in English, but made his speech in Spanish. Or the maternal tone of Diane Montgomery, she sang for me Follow the Yellow Brick Road.
But not all have felt happier in the event. Now the organizing committee, full of resentment, discussed with Said, imposes restrictions on the rest of the group (no one could go to the barbecue of closure). Reason: They felt burdened !!!!!!! They closed the night with a quaff.

So this post in English and personnel. Quantitative and Qualitative brought great ideas to Piaui. (even with the translation of a sildes confounded)
